For the final delivery of the bridge to Rijkswaterstaat, it was necessary to clean all the steel cables and re-lubricate them. This was required because during the transport and installation of the cables, dirt, sand, and gravel had adhered to them. Hundreds of meters of cables needed to be cleaned.
There were a total of 6 towers, with 4 cables on the inside and 16 cables on the outside of each tower. The challenge was managing shipping and road traffic. These were halted on weekends to prevent the bridge from moving. Work continued for weeks, including several weekends day and night, with 20 people simultaneously hanging on ropes across multiple towers.
