On a pipelay vessel in the port of Rotterdam, Rope Access Group carried out Eddy Current inspections on the welds of the new crane, both on the outside and inside. Rope access was the most suitable and safest method to reach the welds. On the inside, we used our so-called “rope winch,” a certified battery-powered winch that can be used on the rope. By using the winch, less physical climbing was required. This provides safety advantages (less fatigue) as well as speed. In this way, we can inspect more welds in a day, resulting in cost savings for our client.
