On an operational column our inspectors did ultrasonic wall thickness measurements for a week.
The high temperatures on the shell made it special. High temperature probes were used. Also the same spots have to be measured periodically so we mounted special plastic on the insulation shell. In this way future inspections can be done very fast and efficient.
