Wall Thickness Measurements on Boiler & Cyclone

At a power plant in Belgium, a team of 3 technicians performed wall thickness measurements inside the boiler and cyclone. This was the first inspection of the boiler since its commissioning. The measured results provided the client with valuable insight into where the most wear and tear is occurring.

Access to the boiler and the specific measurement locations is only feasible, fast, and safe using rope access techniques. With a well-thought-out and discussed TRA (Task Risk Assessment) and rescue plan, rope access work inside a boiler becomes a very safe option!

The only alternative would be scaffold construction, but that would require extensive scaffolding inside the boiler, taking a significant amount of time to build and dismantle.
