During the building of a new boiler a difficult to reach spot for welding was accessed with rope access methods. The job was to manoeuvre a welder to a specific spot high in the corner of a boiler. The battery-operated winch combined with a small liftingscaffold above the place and a workseat made it very comfortable for the welder to do the job.
Being in charge of the welders safety Rope Access Group made the plans, risk assessments, outfitted the welder with PPE’s and had a rope access technician hanging next to the welder to position him, assist him and make him as comfortable as possible.
